As part of Family Weekend, the ever-popular balletLORENT returns to Sadler’s Wells with another of their fantastical dance-theatre fairy-tale adaptations. Directed by Liv Lorent, and retold by Poet Laureate Carol Ann Duffy, Rumpelstiltskin is the story of the outsider, shunned for being different.

A really excellent show which we all enjoyed and made a refreshing change - a shame it finished so soon!

My daughter (32yrs) and I (57yrs) thoroughly enjoyed Rumplestilskin. There was always 'lots' going on which meant you were constantly looking at all the characters on stage and not just the main characters. The music was great too and was really good at setting the mood of the particular scene ie happy, sad etc. I also loved the fact that there were several children in the cast. Well done to all concerned, it was a lovely enjoyable afternoon.

It was wonderful, but I would say that because my daughter was in the cast. Seriously, it was a vibrant colourfull production and clearly the packed family audience were riveted and most appreciative, and they couldn't all have had daughters in the cast. Michael Reece

When we booked we thought this would be a proper ballet. We arrived early to pick up the tickets and there were A LOT of children. Turns out this was a "family" performance. I don't think it said anything about this when we booked as we wouldn't have booked if we had known. Even after we realised I still thought there would be some actual ballet involved, but there wasn't. It looked like it was made it up on the spot. I'm not a ballet expert but this was not ballet. The couple next to us had clearly made the same mistake and didn't even bother to applaud. All the people cheering and giving a standing ovation were clearly relatives of the performers.

This production was very moving and an absolute delight to witness. The strength of the dancers was evident in their sometimes acrobatic movements and the music was great. I did observe that the majority of the audience were children and this kept them enthralled throughout! A must see. balletLRENT productions just get better :-)

Warm, inviting and comfortable; fine competent and welcoming team; and a heart-warming Rumpelstiltskin performance, thank you. We’ll be back! ?????? Tony and Tricia Sz

Absolutely brilliant. Such a powerful performance. Was bought as a christmas gift for my friend. Safe to say she loved it too! Well done all!

I was disappointed. Three of us attended and we felt that there wasn't much "ballet" at all and that the production was geared towards children rather than adults. More modern dance than ballet and only one person in the whole show did a brief ballet dance with ballet shoes on. The costumes were very good and expressions and emotions felt. A bit too much with the pieces of material being thrown around and the playground scene went on far too long!
